Dear Chalice Lighter,
The Winter 2020 Chalice Lighter Call for the Pacific Central District will be devoted to the UUA Disaster Relief Fund. Many members of congregations in the PCD, as well in other districts of the Pacific Western Region, have been affected by the wildfires that have raged through Northern and Southern California, Oregon and Washington. Now Colorado is experiencing climate-related wildfires. The disaster fund is a general fund, but we want to support it because it is actively supporting UU families that have lost their homes to wildfires this year. In addition, individual UUs and UU communities in our district have been supported in the past and will need support in the future.
From a recent message from UUA President Susan Frederick-Gray & Jessica York, UUA Director of Congregational Life, to the Pacific Western Region: “We are…grateful for the tremendous skill and commitment of your Pacific Western Region staff. They are your primary contacts for support and resources from the UUA. In particular, they can help you connect with the UUA’s Disaster Relief Fund which is made possible by the generosity of UUs and supports our congregations, their members and community partners in the aftermath of catastrophic events. In this time of increasing natural disasters, your gifts are always needed and so appreciated.”
The UUA Disaster Fund needs our individual and collective support. Your gifts to the Chalice Lighter program will help the Disaster Fund and aid all Unitarian Universalists as we experience disasters. Please donate generously and share this message with others in your congregation who might not already be Chalice Lighters.

Direct costs to administer the call are reimbursed from the donations before the grant is issued. More of your money will go toward the grant if you opt for emailed call letters and make your contribution online. Donations for this call will be accepted through February 28, 2021.
